Ironton, population just over 10,000, is the Lawrence County seat on the Ohio side of the river, connected to Kentucky by the Ironton-Russell Bridge and to Huntington by US-52. It was one of the iron capitals of the country in the 1800s, and the wealth from the furnaces built the Italianate and Victorian homes that still line Fifth, Sixth, and Seventh Streets. Ohio University Southern keeps the downtown active. Ironton’s housing is the oldest on our route, and plaster repair is the first thing we pack for it.

Victorian plaster, high ceilings, and long cracks

Ironton’s 19th-century homes have ten- and twelve-foot ceilings, ornate plaster, and cracks that run the full height of a wall. We re-adhere loose plaster, repair cracks with fiberglass tape and setting compound, and replace failed sections with drywall furred out to plaster thickness. See plaster repair and crack repair.

Rentals, remodels, and water damage

A lot of Ironton’s big houses have been divided into apartments, so our rental turnover service works here, along with ceiling repair under aging bathrooms and water damage from old roofs and box gutters.

Lawrence County route

Ironton is the western end of our Ohio route, served with South Point, Chesapeake, and Proctorville along US-52 and Route 7, and it is a short drive across the bridge to Ashland.
